WIP Wed/Let's BEE Social/KISMIF

Sew Fresh QuiltsWIP Wednesday at Freshly Pieced

Modern Tradition Quilts

My co-worker is going to be a Grandpa, and so I convinced him that he needed to let ME make him a quilt for his soon-to-be Granddaughter.  He agreed, and here is what I came up with:

Bunnies!

He loves the bunnies, so I made her a quilt with bunnies!

WIP WED/Let's BEE Social

Sew Fresh QuiltsWIP Wednesday at Freshly Pieced

It's been a while...funk again I think. My daughter, Aubrey@ jaqta@blogspot.com (Just a Quilter Trucking Along), is  now on the road with her husband, on their log haul trucking adventure.  Before she left, we did some pretty heavy sewing on a Quick Curve Ruler Double Wedding Ring quilt for my niece and her future husband, who will marry right after Christmas.  It kind of burned me out, and my machine!

I hesitated to take my machine in...figuring it was going to cost a bundle (who knew my undercarriage could have SO MUCH LINT!  Even using Aurifil!), but I took her in, and the guy fixed her right up and I brought her home and started sewing again!

I've joined a group that makes quilts for kids, helps to "justify" my fabric addiction, and gives me inspiration and a purpose with my quilting.  I've finished 2 quilts, and am working on my third!

Here's one that's done: (guess I haven't taken a picture of the other one...for shame!)

Here's the other one that's done:

And here's the one in progress:

Check out my daughters blog~she got to go to Missouri Star Quilt Company for her 21st birthday...said that was way more exciting than being able to go to a bar and drink (but she did, 'cause she can).  Her goal is to check out quilt shops as they truck along, so, a fun quilting travel log!

Fabric Tuesday~WIP Wednesday~Let's BEE Social!

Sew Fresh QuiltsWIP Wednesday at Freshly Pieced

I've been in a funk, but I'm shaking it off.

My daughter, Aubrey and I, are working on a quilt for a special couple who are getting married in December. We are using Quick Curve Ruler (Sew Kind of Wonderful Quick Curve Ruler) and this quilt is their Metro Rings pattern (modern double wedding ring). They requested blue/grey color scheme, and we used white/white pearl bracelets as the backgroud...her engagement ring is a pearl, so this seemed really appropriate! My daughter Aubrey has been sewing like mad, and I've been helping, but she is really carrying the load on this one. So without further ado, our progress:

And...my daughter Shannon asked me to make her a new pencil holder. She then went to my fabric stash and "went shopping". Here's what we came up with:

Linking up with Fabric Tuesday! Thanks for stopping by, trying to keep on keeping on...

Sunday Stash~Binging

Molli Sparkles

Commisions have been good, and I've been on a "tear" buying fabric.  This will have to end soon...

Last on the bandwagon with Pearl Bracelets!

For a cute baby quilt, the animal fabric was on clearance at $5/yard
so I had to buy it...and those spots...perfect (tho not so on sale)

Olivia also on clearance at $5/yard

Gorgeous fqb that I just had to have

For another child's quilt.

I will diet...soon!

TGIFF~Quilt For A Sweet Little Girl

Sometimes you can't change things. I met a little girl who's 3, who is being adopted by her great-grandmother, who's 70. I wish I could sweep her up and bring her to live with me, but it's not possible. I felt inspired to make her something, to let her know that she is loved...but truly, I feel pretty hopeless about her situation.

This will be shipping to her with some books. Trying to do something, and feeling quite helpless about it all.

I Quilt~Like A Chicken!

I'm a chicken. I'm afraid of free motion on my home machine so I quilt 1/4" off the seam. On this quilt it looks pretty good:

I'm also enjoying quilt-as-you-go projects. This will be a set of 6 placemats, from a pattern inspired by Cori George of Let's Eat Grandpa  http://letseatgrandpa.com/

That's about it for this week!
